    Hello all.

I currently have a 256k adsl line here in dubai,UAE and it is not cutting it anymore.

I wish to upgrade to a 8 mbps connection, but it comes with a "fair usage policy - 100 GB". I agree that 100GB is a lot, but with 4 computers and 2 teen siblings who are on computer 24/7, i doubt that limit would hold. The overage fees per GB over is very high.

So the question is: I have linksys WRT54G v8 router with stock firmware. I need a way to allocate percentage of data limit like 20% of comp1, 30% to comp2 (based on MACs or ips). that once that limit is crossed, they get only like 256kbps speed so they cannot download or use much more data.

I am willing to use third party softwares, firmwares and or buy another hardware (upto ~100-125$) to realize this case.

    thanks!

Gargoyle firmware would be suited to your needs but its not compatible with your router.

DD-WRT firmware allows you to throttle the speed but no quota settings
