Hey everyone. I have this 4-port Linksys BEFSR41 router, but for some reason it would constantly disconnect me off AIM. It is already upgraded to the latest firmware that Linksys could support. Does anyone know what might be the problem? Thanks.

Did this happen with your old router?

Some of the older residential routers have a problem with overheating. But you loose every thing. You may check your lease times, but it would effect every thing. AOL is virus, so be careful, they will constantly push software to your machine without your knowledge.

Well I have a WRT54G router, but I brought that to my apartment for college, but now I'm at home I've notice this problem. "What do you mean by check your lease times?"

There is setting for lease time when you connect to your local lan. Meaning after a set period of time, your connection would be dropped, and re-connected if active. Also it's possable for your isp to disconnect you on inactivity. But again it would affect all.

I would clear your router back to factory settings and reset it up. It's possable it has a setting left over from you apt.
