    Hello everyone [ :)]
Hopefully this is the right place to get some help with notebooks problems.

OK yesterday I just purchased my first notebook. It's Averatec AV5428HX and I bought it at Walmart. With tax it was $1057 (and yes I do have a limited budget). I've spent roughly 4-5 hours installing software and tweaking it. I have several problems with it.

It will not hibernate nor stand by and it gets stuck on 'Windows shutting down..." so I have to turn it off manually. After reading a thread here it looks like it's SP2 related and there is not much I can do.

My second and biggest problem is wireless lan. My wireless router is in the same room where I use my notebook but I keep getting "Wireless Network Connection is not connected Wireless network unavailable". But I know my wireless connection is working and when I use my desktop PC in the same room it will show signal strength: excellent. But my notebook can't find any networks in range. I've tried fn+f2 keys and I can turn wlan LED off and on but nothing will change.

I have no experience with notebooks and I would really appreciate if someone here could help me. Also I hope I won't have to reformat it because I've spent so much time tweaking it.

Other than these problems I really like it and would hate to return it. I know that $1000 for a notebook isn't a lot but it is for a device that doesn't work as advertised. Also I've emailed Averatec's tech support and have not received a response. Their '24/7 phone tech support' number isn't working after dialing 1 for English.

    Thanks.
