I have an Atheros AR9285 wireless card in my notebook and have a Netgear WNDR3400 wireless router which claim 300 + 300 mbps. However I am only achieving 75 mbps. I know by reading thru the threds here that the Atheros AR9285 can only achieve 150 mbps. How do I get to 150 mbps??

Set channel width you 40MHz on the router.

I do not see an option in the netgear router configuration to set it to 40MHz and I have the security set to WPA2-PSK [AES].

    UPDATE:
If I change the channel in the router configuration to something other than auto it will connect briefly at 150mbps but then drop out and reconnect at 75mbps??

Exactly how I imagined Pita looks like without the helmet :D It's probably good neighbor policy. Use inSSIDer to find some free space- so to speak. Since 40MHz is like two channels bonded it doesn't really work if someone is using the same or neighboring channel.

Ok I installed inSSIDer and I changed my channel to 4 as the next closest channels to me is 1 and 6, still only getting 75mbps. When I first change the channel it will spike to 150 then the connection will drop and reconnect at 75?? inSSIDer also reports my max rate is 144n? I have the router set to 300

Last thing to do is to update drivers to the most recent ones.
If that doesn't cut it then I'm afraid I'm just gonna have to add you to my "list of people who hate AR928x" ;)
Seriously- this card just doesn't work properly at 802.11n speeds- do a quick google search or even forum search on this one.
If you need to transfer files via Wi-Fi you may want to buy a new card- if it's just a matter of curiosity- leave it as it is.

Hi, thanks I'm almost to the point where I'm just going to live with it as I have an ASUS 53JW and I have to take the keyboard off to get to the wireless card I believe and since I just got it I don't feel like messing it up so soon. The link above takes me to a page not found for the driver? I have searched for the Atheros AR9285 driver and have come up empty and I can't even find it on ASUS's website.

I have re-checked the link and it works but here's another one.
