    Hey all!

Does anyone have any experience with how good this wireless card is?
i wonder, cuz my current Intel card has 3 antennas, and this one only has 2.

I am looking for a new one, cuz this Intel i have (4965AGN) wont allow 40mhz channel width at 2.4ghz. Hence it wont do 300mbit. where-as this Atheros WILL do 40mhz chans and run at the full 300. but i don't wanna gain the speed and at the same time loose half my range cuz of 1 less ant.

so, if anyone has any ideas or thoughts on the matter, please let me know!

    thanx,

    Rob

hmm, i suspect its only working for you is because you are running @ 5ghz mode? it will do 300 @ 5ghz. but not @ 2.4ghz. they do it so as not to 'hog' all the 2.4 ghz bandwidth from other users. (dam BS) no other company and/or model does that. even the 5100 'fixes' this 'bug'.

btw, my setting for what you suggested is set to auto. and it is running the latest driver windows 7 offers.

If you're looking at that part #, try to get an AR9280 based card instead. It may be called by other names unfortunately just like what you are looking at, I've seen AR5BXB92 used as that was a reference design part.

The price isn't really higher if you shop around, ~$20. Its 2x2 and dual band, the current best ath9k type imo.

AR5B93 is a reference part number and often mis-labeled when its something else due to all the OEMs and resellers/part pullers out there. It could be a different ath9k variant (AR9281/5/x/who knows) that is 1x1 despite the dual connectors, or even 1x2.

None of the actual cards save some ES/reference are actually made by atheros, and wlan minicards were never meant for retail so you get to deal with annoying details like these ;)

What are the specs for the AR5B93?

Is it a dual band card? or is it just 2.4ghz?

    Thanks,

    Steve

I've had to answer multiple posts about AR9280- all kind of problems ranging from disconnecting from network to the card refusing to connect at 802.11n speed. I'd rather not answer another one... ;)
