Recently I have had my notebook docked and connected to the internet via ethernet cable. Since then my wireless has ceased to work. Upon removal of the ethernet cable my wireless claims that there are no connections available.
The option to turn on wireless via the Windows Mobility center is greyed out.
The use of the physical button and fn+f2 does nothing to activate the wireless card. The LED on the button remains red, an indication that wireless is off.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the driver for my card by downloading the driver from HP and also by uninstalling and rebooting so that it installs automatically upon discovering the hardware.
Troubleshooting results in the problem to not be fixed.
I am quite vexed and mildly annoyed. Until this problem is resolved, I am trapped at my desk if I would like to access the internet.
Attached are links containing screen shots of said problem.
My computer configuration is located in my signature, with my OS being of the x64 variant.
Thank You in advance.

You can place a sliver of tape over one of the PCIe connections on the card and completely bypass the hardware WiFi switch... let me see if I can dig up the link.
That way you can rule out if it's some kind of hardware issue or if it's software. What about booting a Linux Live disk? Tried that? -
My partition of Linux comes back with "No wireless available"

Tape over pin #20 and that will completely bypass the HW on/off switch for WiFi. You have to enable/disable it in the device manager.

Thank you. I'll give that a go once I reinstall Windows 7..

Windows 7 is back on, computer is up and running.
HAL, what kind of tape do you recommend? -

Thank you for your help Hal. I have wireless enabled again and am no longer tied to my ethernet cable.
Only downside is that my wlan led light is still red.
Thanks again. -

Interesting about the light though... It may be a BIOS issue or you may need to clear your CMOS settings?
Other than the light, though, I'm glad it's working! -
Downloaded and installed HP Wireless Assistant and enabled wireless from there. It now changes color again. -

I have a wireless netgear router, which i can get my laptop to connect. Just bought a tablet and for some reason can't get it to connect to the wireless router.

It's not a good place to ask tablet related questions in the first place as it is a notebook forum after all.
