G'day everyone. This is my internet system: I got a VPN type of connection, i got LAN first, then a direct VPN. The provider hooked me up with those LAN settings (IP, mask, gateaway), so i HAVE to set em the local network settings before i connect, otherwise, my MAC adress gets blocked. After I have bought the laptop, I felt like makin' some Wi-Fi around; so I got MSI RG54GS2 now.

I don't know how to make all this work now, lol. I called my ISP company boss and asked him to disable the router's MAC adress' blocking, so I can free tuning my new router now. Just gimme some advice which type of connection I should pick, where I should put my previous LAN settings n stuff like that.

I'd appreciate your help, reply if ya need more detailz 'bout my connection.

I'm not very sure if I understand well your project, but this is what you can do meanwhile the ISP change the new MAC address, go in the router and use MAC cloning, and put there the MAC address the ISP is expecting to see.

I don't care 'bout the MAC adress atm , since it's recognition is disabled. I'm asking which concrete settings I gotta use configuring the router to make it work with those settings I got due to using VPN over LAN, lol. It's, actually, my first time I'm tuning a router.
Again, I'm putting my local IP, net mask and the gateaway IP in LAN settings to connect to the local town's network. The next step - the direct connect to the VPN server, using authorisation with the given ID/pass. How do I make the router work with those things via Wi-Fi?

So you have a modem, then just connect the modem to the router. Then the router should work out of the box, not much work. Then you must make sure that you have installed the driver for your laptop adapter, just go to the device manager and network adapter and update the driver, if you cannot do it then you have to go to the wireless card vendor web iste and get the driver, you can also get the driver directly form the OEM web site, what is your wireless card brand and model?

Thanks for replyin, but you haven't get what I need yet tho, omg lol. I've tried to explain it all as detailed as possible. Again. We got a router @ the roof of the house, which is a gateaway, I think. I got a coaxial getting into my apartment from the roof - I directly connect it into the PC/Laptop. There is no modem! Before connecting the wire, I always have to set the LAN settings up: my local IP which is 172.20.225.85, net mask (255.255.255.0) and the gateaway adress - 172.20.225.254 (which is my roof router). I'm getting the local network connecting using those settings I got from the ISP. I don't have any internet access via LAN. So, I'm makin a direct VPN connection to the server IP, authorizing with my ID/pass.

The question is where I have to put all these settings, tuning my new access point, when I connect the coaxial into WAN spot of my new router?

    It's Atheros AR5007EG

What you have on the roof is not a router, is a modem, that the first thing coming into the house, then you need a router.

Did you say that the cable coming into your PC is a coax?

I told you that the router would work out of the box.

I also strongly recommend that you edit your posts and remove everywhere you put your home IP, this is esensial for hackers to get into your network, so please for your own security remove your home IP as soon as you can ;)

I've already configured the connection. I had to set PPTP type and fill in my local IP, net mask, local gateaway, VPN server IP and the ID/password.
The network is still not protected, but I've managed the MAC adress of the laptop as the only possible to connect .
I just need a help with another question - Internet must work if I connect my home PC to the one of 4 ports @ the router, and set the LAN settings to "auto", mustn't it? I guess the router's settings I'm using atm (PPTP with all my settings works perfect via WiFi) should work for the PC also, lol. But when I connect the PC with my new router, the LAN says "cannot recieve network adress" =o. Of course, I have added the PC's MAC to the list too.

Bumpimg again, maybe someone can advice me something. When I'm tryin' to access my PC which is connected my router too, wired connection though (not like a wireless for my laptop) - it's asking me for some password. I haven't managed any password for my PC, lol. Admin or my router web interface passwords don't match.

I think ur home pc needs static ip addresses set in the network adapter properties.

"When I'm tryin' to access my PC which is connected my router too, wired connection though (not like a wireless for my laptop) - it's asking me for some password."

When u say "access", what do u mean. Are u trying to remote into the pc using remote desktop?
