I've been reading about many problems with Intel's mini-pci wireless boards, e.g., dropped signals, low range, slow connections. I've also read here about the Antheros option that many people seem to like. Is there any option that does not have the problems Intel's cards do, but still uses the Centrino technology? Also, from what I've read, the only advantage to the whole Centrino platform is better battery life. Do the Antheros cards or say a pcmcia card have a significant effect on battery life compared with an Intel solution (2200, 2915)?

The 2915 is a perfectly fine card. The 2200 is the one you want to avoid. If you want something other than a Intel card, the Atheros cards are fantastic! They are well worth it
