    Any downsides to FTTH?

    Cable's speeds, for instance, are dependent on the number of users in your neighborhood sharing the connection, and DSL's speeds are dependent on the distance between you and the DSLAM. Are there any downsides like these with FTTH?

    Generally speaking, no.

    A FTTH service will give you a dedicated circuit that doesn't share bandwidth with anyone the way cable broadband does.

    Unlike copper-based DSL circuits, FTTH doesn't really "care" about distance from the CO.

    So in many respects FTTH is indeed the best of both worlds.
