I'm considering buying a Dell E1505 with standard Dell 1390G Wireless card or maybe upgrading to Intel 3945A/G card if the bugs have finally been worked out of the 2200/2915 previous versions of the Intel card. Has anyone purchased a Dell or other brand of laptop with either of these cards experienced any trouble connecting to your router? Have you experienced solid surfing with NO FREQUENT DISCONNECTS? Do tell and don't be shy - I welcome any and all advice since I'm a newbie.

I have a Bell South Westel Versalink 327W router which I've quickly discovered also has many problems too, primarily with Verizon users, even though I'm with Bell South. I'm not sure if the problem is really with the Intel 2200 card in both of my current two laptops (one is IBM Thinkpad T42 and other is HP Compaq 8230) or if the problems is with my cheap Bell South Westel router. I have adjusted channels on the 327W to no avail. We still experience continual disconnects regardless of channel or location in the house on both laptops.

Since neither of these laptops are my own personal laptop, I can't really mess with settings and updating drivers, which from what I've read, might fix the issue. Until I have my own laptop (probably Dell E1505), I won't be able to find out. I would really rather just avoid this issue altogether anyway and just get a wireless card that works flawlessly with a router that has max range.

I plan to get a new router if the wireless card i choose does not work. But, I also plan to get the Atheros wireless card through the group buy purchase on the Buy-Sell-Trade thread on this website. I figure that with this Atheros card that seems flawless (not one bad thing said about this card other than no CD or installation software), then when I travel, this Atheros card will give me a better chance at hooking up as a guest on other wireless links at hotels and rental condos, right?

Anyway, please let me know if you had GOOD or BAD experiences in connecting wirelessly using Dell 1390G card or Intel 3945A/G card. Thanks ever so!
