I've begun looking at Wireless-N routers. I'm incredibly picky, in part because my D-Link DGL-4300 has been great for the past 4-5 years; if I could only add 802.11N to it, it'd still be perfect.

I need DynDNS support that works, and good port forwarding, since I remote into home from work on occasion, and sometimes run an FTP server. I also need to be able to open individual ports for applications like Bittorrent.

I've looked at a lot of N routers, and none appear perfect yet. However, the Buffalo WZR-HP-G300NH looks appealing, especially since it has an extremely powerful wireless radio, and a recent firmware update (1.65) has been released to polish its rough edges.

Does anyone have one of these, and if so, how does it work for you? I'm a fairly technical user, so interface shouldn't be an issue if everything works reasonably well. Thanks for any information you can provide.

For those of you that are also looking, here's a great review.

I have been eying that one for a upgrade to a Older Buffalo router, WHR-HP-54g. I like the gige ports as well as the HP wireless. The older one I have as worked very well, it is running the dd-wrt firmware.

Has dd-wrt released firmware for this model?

Not so far. It's not based on Broadcom CPU but on Atheros but its supposedly Work in progress at least for D-Link DIR-615 based on the same hardware. I wouldn't count on it being supported anytime soon though.

Anyway, it seems to be a good router with a lot of features and Bufallo have always been good and even recommended by BrainSlayer himself(the creator of DD-WRT)

I hope you have no neighbors with WiFi and don't live in a block as some people may/will hate this high power radio. Bad luck transmit power it can't be adjusted via firmware.

Well, I'm fairly sure my DGL-4300 has pretty high transmit power; that, and I went from a 5dB to a 7dB omnidirectional antenna. My immediate neighbors don't have broadband; the closest ones are several houses down, so I'm not too concerned there.

The DGL-4500 is just a little pricey for my tastes, and I don't need fancy OLED displays, just a solid router. $91 shipped through Buy.com seems like a pretty good price, too. Pulling the trigger --I'll keep y'all updated.
