I have a Vista Home Premium HP dv6000t laptop with the Intel Pro 3945 a/b/g internal wireless card.
I have an XP Home desktop machine.
    I wireless with a Linksys WRT54G Version 2.0 with DD-WRT v23 SP2 (09/15/06) firmware.
I use WPA-2 and shared key.

I enabled a 500GB Western Digital My Book USB drive to share the root on the XP machine.

I can access it from the laptop. Can neighborhood war drivers get to it. I know where there is a will (hacker), there is a way, but for an average Joe with a wireless, am I wide open or just as secure as before?

Do you restrict access to your wireless network by only allowing certain MAC addresses?

    Do you broadcast your SSID?

Do you use a password to log into your network?

Do you use a password to log into your notebook?

    Do you have a firewall?

You should password protect your HD.
