Well after so much tinkering with the Intel 5350 I imported through Ebay in my M860TU, and after installing it in my father's laptop, I'm almost convinced that I received a defective or incompatible card. I'm waiting for my P-7811 FX to be back from repairs in order to test the card one more time, but in the mean time, I would like to do some research on my next purchase. So.... can anyone please post a list of alternatives from other manufacturers (Realtek, Atheros, etc) to the 5350? WiMax ready, maybe? My laptop is a M860(E)TU with Windows 7 RC installed in it. Thank you in advance.

By "tinkering", does that include setting the adapter's Wireless and other settings to match your Router's settings? You can't just plug in a card and expect it to work without adjusting the settings, and even one setting can make it a real problem for signal or speed issues.

You've not listed anything about your Router or your Adapter settings, so it's impossible to tell if the settings are the problem, but it's more than likely the case. Keep in mind also that you're using the RC W7 version, and Wireless is one of the more common problems that W7 has had.

If you want the easy way, at least until you can determine with a known, stable OS that your card isn't the issue, then get an external adapter in the meantime until either you can use Vista, or wait until 7's problems are resolved. Of course, even with an external, it's a toss up as to whether one will work properly with 7 RC.

Yes, I checked the router settings, Im aware that windows 7 has some wireless problems and tried many different drivers to make it work, searched these forums and google for possible solutions, and tested the card in my father's computer, which has Windows Vista 32bit, and I didn't get it to work either. Soon my P-7811FX will arrive from repairs, and I will try to make it work on that computer as well.... If not, then, I'll assume the card is broken or they sold me a card that only works with specific notebook brands such as Lenovo or HP.

So... until my P-7811FX arrives, I would like to know if there is any other mini-pci WLAN cards from other companies, such as Realtek and Atheros, that can compare to the perfomance and features of the Intel 5350. Thats all I want, for now.
