I have road runner high speed internet at home. Pay about $45/month. I use a linksys router that i use to connect wireless.

Can someone explain me about aircards? The thing is I will travel to Las Vegas and bring my laptop and stay a few days and at the hotel casino, it cost about $12 per day for internet. If i stay there for many 5 days, it would cost me $60 for the internet.

I heard you need to first get a usb modem and then sign a contract with sprint or verizon for this internet? I read that it cost $200 for this usb stick? What brand should i get? Is the internet good and not have dropped connections?

The thing is i just want to use this service whenever i go and travel and not a monthly thing. Also, the cell phone i use is from AT and T and i do not use any internet service with my phone.

Are there plans where i can use where i can get it for one month and thats it where there is no contract? I heard of cricket... is that good? I read its about $40 per month and there is no contract? Wouldn't it be a good idea to get it if i plan to stay at a casino hotel for 4 days since it would cost me at least $48 for internet whereas it would only cost $40 with aircard or am i wrong?

Can someone give me suggestions? Thank you!

On contract with VZW or Sprint, the cards are usually free. I think what you're talking about is a USB Modem from AT&T with pay-as-you-go, or Virgin Mobile. They don't require you to sign a contract, but you have to buy the modem out-right. Personally, if you have a decent phone, I'd just get a data plan on the phone and tether the phone.
