Hey, I am having trouble configuring my AE at Uni. At the moment I can only can only get an internet connection and I cannot get airtunes to work at all.

As I am in Uni halls I get my connection through an ethernet socket in the wall. I then directly connect this to the ethernet socket in the AE. I have checked with the ISP if I am allowed an AE, and they said yes. The AE express is set up in bridge mode as this is the only mode that is allowed as I cannot perform router functions.

    Some more information:

-I get issued a private IP address

-Only allowed to have 2 MAC addresses registered to my account at one time. (Any MAC address that is not registered is blocked from the network and thus the internet) At the moment all I have registered is the MAC address of the wireless card on my laptop.

-I can use the internet and Airtunes when the device is in "Share IP Address" mode.

-I have tried disabling Firewalls. Uninstalled Internet security software. Reinstalled windows. Downgrading iTunes.

-Rang apple support several time. Longest call= 1hr 40min!...Still didnt work.

    -Rang ISP support.

My friend across the hall also has an AE, he has a MacBook and it all works fine with him. When he brings his laptop to my room, MY speakers show up in his iTunes and he is able to play music through MY speakers.

After extensive reading, I now believe that the problem is that the computer and AirPort are on different subnets. My computer Issued IP is 10.61.1... and the AirPort has an IP of 10.61.252...Any Idea how to get them on the same subnet?

    Thanks, Chris.

Ok, so that will definitely wreak havoc...
I'd say just assign a static IP but I don't know the policy your university has on that. You could try talking to your network admin and getting two IPs and assigning them so they're on the same subnet.
Other than that I'd probably just leave it on share IP address mode
