Hello, this would be my first post here (after moving it somewhere else), and I'm looking for some quick answer.

My brother just handed down his old Acer Ferrari 3200 for use, and said he just formatted his laptop and reinstalled Windows XP (He doesn't use Recovery Disk). And from what I know in the past, in terms of internet, he's using LAN rather than WAN.

Now, I'd like to utilize WAN with that laptop (Acer). I installed the drivers that I got from the internet (802.11g Wireless LAN Driver). But, then I tried to check whether the Wireless Network Connection is active or not (Start > Control Panel > Network Connections), I do not see the Wireless Network Connection anymore.

What should I do to make my Acer Ferrari 3200 which just got formatted available for Wireless connection? Is the WAN driver built-in to the laptop or I should find one in the stores and buy them first before I install the driver setup?

Answers will be much appreciated. Thank you.

    Is there a switch?
Also there may be software that enables Wiwan as opposed to wifi.

Beyond that, you may have a bad card (could be why he didn't use it) or a wrong/bad driver.

There is a switch, I think it's located near to the Bluetooth switch. When I pressed it, it's colored yellow, but it doesn't activate it.

What software enables the WiWan, and where can I find it?

    Thanks...

Check Acers support site, they should have all you need to get it up and running. I'm not familiar with your model so I can only advise so much.

If the switch doesn't work, it's possible someone swapped out or even removed the card. Some do not work well with switches.
