My partner is moving in to a continuing care facility :( where they provide free cable and cable internet access.

He has a VIZIO 55" Class LCD 240 Hz SPS HDTV Full Array TruLED w/ Smart Dimming with VIZIO Internet- Connected, XVT553SV and a fully loaded HP Elitebook 8740w mobile workstation with blu-ray read/write player in it and 16 GB RAM.

We want to buy him a wireless router with which he can play Netflix, Amazon Instant Video, Hulu, a fair number of DVDs & Blu-Rays (& CDs) he owns as well as all the cable stations he will be getting (there a lot of them but I don't know what they are yet -- but hope there are some music channels among them) both on the TV and on his laptop.

He is in a good sized 1 bedroom apartment on the next to top floor (7th), the TV will be in his living room and the laptop will spend most of its time in his bedroom.

    He does no gaming.

I don't know how much of what I suggest is feasible but we want a good quality one, one that works well (no software problems -- like I've been reading about everywhere) and to some extent future proof. Extra features are fine. We'll grow into them.

    Any suggestions?
