    Hi,

What are the major differences between

Intel WiFi Link 5100/5300 (AGN) and

    Intel WiMAX/WiFi Link 5350 (AGN)
    ?
The latter costs more--for what advantages?

This is easy. 5350 costs more than 5100/5300 cause it's a combo card, which goes by its name, not only a WiFi but also a WiMAX adapter. If you don't know what is the different between WiFi and WiMAX then maybe you have to read Mr. Wikipedia explanation first.

WiFi is supposed to be a wireless local area network or internet connection which can be commercial or non-commercial. OTH, WiMAX is a commercial wireless network or internet connection which has wider area of coverage. In a way, it's like the cell-phone network.

Therefore, 5350 card can give continuous internet connection. When inside a building or at home, a user with 5350 in his/her notebook can connect to a WiFi network, which is not only for internet connection but also for connecting to home or office network. And when on the road, he/she could still be connected to the net by switching to WiMAX service.
