Well, I don't plan on using it to play game, just wanted to have it to share internet between my desktop and notebook that all. Well I'm currently using DSL, and the speed that I usually get by connecting straight with the main modem is 714 kbps or 89.3 KB/sec.

Well I was wondering, in my case, is it really necessary to get a Linksys G Speedboster over a normal Linksys G one ?

you have to have a matching Speedbooster card in your PC, and even then, the advantage goes away if you're more than 10 feet or so from the router. If you transfer a lot of files between computers, it MAY be worth it. Otherwise, just save the extra $10 for lunch somewhere.

speedbooster is like a burst transfer rate when moving data across a LAN. it won't increase or decrease your DSL/internet browsing speed at all. if, you're not moving lots of data between computers on the network, it's unnecessary.

I do move a lot of data between my two systems and I have a normal Linksys router, no speedboast. Works find, good speeds.
