    Hi,

I am using M1000 from QWest with Linksys wrt160n, but somehow I cannot get the full speed as direct connect from the modem.

    The speed is incredibly slow.

I set the wireless mode to be G-only, and use channel 9.

Is there anyway to optimize the output of the router?

Are you referring to wired speed or Wireless.

What speed is your service and what speeds does speakeasy report. And what speeds are you getting.

If it's a DSL service your MTU needs to be set at 1492, def is 1500.

    My QWest package is 7M.

Through the modem wireless router combo Actiontec GT701, I can get full speed.

That is why I expect better from the M1000 and linksys wireless router.

One other thing, you may have to have your ISP reset the MAC address that are registered with them. Some ISP (most) record the MAC address of the modem and router when the account is setup. If this is the case when you change hardware it send up a flag on there system. You can do a quick test and clone the MAC address of your old router into the newer linksys. You may have to go into the Actiontec and get the MAC address if not printed on the case.

Are you connecting the wrt160n in one of the Actiontec GT701 Ethernet ports?

    No.

I connect the wrt160n with the Ethernet port on the M1000.
