My flatmates laptop is an acer aspire. Until recently his laptop connected to the wireless network in our flat with no problems. But now it won't connect. It just constantly says it is acquiring IP address. The other laptops in my house have no problems with this wireless network and we can't figure out what the problem is. Does anyone have any idea what is going on?

Has he downloaded some applications lately? Cleaning his HDD could help, some spywares and even viruses could cause the reported issue. Spybot and ccleaner are good cleaning applications.

If this doesn't help, try to re-install the wireless adapter driver.

We tried re-installing the wireless driver but it didn't help. Will definitely try spybot and ccleaner. What do you mean cleansing the hard drive. I have never heard of this term.
