    Dear all,

That is my first thread, hello!

Even though I work as a bioinformatician, I am still an amateur regarding most stuffs in computers (...).

I wanted to resuscitate my old laptop (an acer aspire 1692, 10 years old) by replacing Windows XP with Xubuntu.

But I realized, that laptop could not connect to the internet: even though he has a wifi card or if I plug in the ethernet cable...

That was the case with Windows XP as well as Xubuntu, for that reason I doubt it comes form the OS, I just hoped the diagnostic would be easier with linux.

That is the result of the 'lpsci' command for the hardware:

    Code:

    Hi.
nstall first the Xubunto without being connected to the net. After everything installed, then start the wifi, then xubunto searches for routers the nets near you. You just choice yours, and lets go.
