Posted this in the AO522 users lounge forum but will probably have more luck here.

I am having a problem with the Atheros bluetooth with this netbook. The Acer Aspire One 522 (UK model) can be detected by other devices but it can’t find any bluetooth devices.

I have upgraded the AO522 to the latest BIOS and it runs Windows 7 Starter and have installed the Atheros Bluetooth drivers/Bluetooth suite for Win 7 SP1 (6.18.0624.0302) from Acer's site. The bluetooth service is on and bluetooth is enabled using the Fn and F3. The Atheros and Microsoft drivers are showing up OK in the Device Manager under Bluetooth radio.

Anyone know how to make it detect bluetooth again?

    Thanks

    press windows key + r
    type services.msc
    press enter

double+click on bluetooth support services properties (it should be disabled or stopped)
select automatic under start up type
click on start button in that property window.
    click apply
    click on okay

    search for bluetooth devices.

or make sure your devices are discoverable.

Thanks for the info but all the Bluetooth Support Service was already on and working and the devices were discoverable.

As I have tried everything I am beginning to think it is a hardware fault. I have opened it up and the Bluetooth module is properly connected.

The Aspire One 522 Bluetooth module is discoverable by others but pairing always ends in failure.

Any other ideas before I declare the module defective?
