    Hello,

Acer TM8204 contains "Bluetooth VoIP Phone", if I click on "My Bluetooth Places" i can see this device in list as Headset type. but i cannot make connection, i get message "The remote device closed the connection". I cannot make connection also using "Acer VCM" application.

I try to connect this "voip phone" to my nokia phone but i dont know "security code" of "voip phone".

What is the "security code" of this device ("Bluetooth VoIP Phone")? There is not manual, only there is serial number on it...

I hope windows cannot connect to this device because of security code too....

    Thanks

I believe the security code is just a PIN or in BLuetooth terms a 'passkey' that you determine. Once that is entered , the other device should show something like 'ok to connect to <device name>' and then ask for corresponidng PIN or Security code that you entered above.

So when asked type in something like 1111 and then remember whatever you choose to enter in the other device.

problem is that i dont know device's "PIN". And i'm not able to enter PIN into device because "Acer Bluetooth VoIP Phone" (it is headset) has no keybord. devices without keybord has tipicaly fixed PINs, but I dont know it...

I try some "default" pins like 1111, 1234, 0000 but without success.

U cannot connect via windows BT it seems..

Try connecting via Acer VCM, it shld work fine..

i also can't connect, asks me for PIN, but thru Acer VCM, it works..
seems like it's designed this way to prevent other ppl frm
using the voip phone with other notebooks/software..

Maybe only way to find the PIN is to use a bluetooth stack sniffer
to see the PIN that acer VCM uses to connect?

I am having similar problems. I can actually pair the headset with my laptop (I didn't have to enter any code for some reason), but I still can't use it for anything. There's no sound from the headset speaker other than status beeps and I've never managed to get any sound in from the microphone in the headset.

A bit more info about the headset, from the label on the back:
    Acer Bluetooth VoIP Phone
    Model: VT25010
    Rating: 3.7V
    FCC ID: PU54P1091
    IC No: 4182A-4P1091

So I too, now have managed to pair my phone with my laptop (it's amazing that they don't tell you the passkey in the docs), but I still can't manage it as an audio device. Probably not coincidentally the menu item for "Bluetooth Headset Connection Center" in the VCM is greyed out, disabled.

Anyone else have this problem? Tech support at Acer was no help.

    Hi Laslowh

I just got my acer 5672 with vopi phone, it took me a while to get it working yesterday, I too had the Bluetooth Headset Connection Center greyed out then I realised that the bluetooth wasnt switched on there is a slide swith at thr fron to turn it on, slide it to the right then wait till you see Bluetooth enabled on screen then it will become "ungreyed" I made a call fine with the phone after that, but today come back and did the same now nothing, so frustrating!! Will try again tomorrow! Let me know if you get it going ok? Oh I also downloaded a driver for th voip phone from Acer's support site.

Also, I found this discussion on the Microsoft newsgroups:

    http://support.microsoft.com/newsgr...6-ba1a8875c1a7&lang=en&cr=&sloc=en-us&m=1&p=1

It makes mention (as do a lot of sites on the internet) the fact that the default XP bluetooth driver does not support the headset profile. They suggest the use of a WIDCOMM driver (now Broadcom?). However, I assume that given that the 8200 is shipped with a bluetooth headset, it comes with a compatible bluetooth stack.

Just to be sure, have other 8200 owners actually gotten their VoIP headset working?

    Hi
I looked for the link for the voip phone drivers for your 8200 on Australian site it is from here http://support.acer.com.au/supportacer.nsf/webnav2/Portable+PCs?OpenDocument&ML

Mine was from the 5672 profile. Try it and see. I got the phone working again yesterday, made a superb quality call to UK . Switched my notebook off came back later, again nothing, so frustrating! It has been very hit and miss, I am not sure if there is a set order routine for switching on etc, I am going to go through all again today and write down different orders of doing things to see if I can nail it down, I do also remember dropping the phone just before it worked!! I have also emailed Acer Australia.

    Will post findings.

I found something really strange with the VT25010 Acer Voip phone, I have just spent a few mins going through scenarios for start up and found flipping the mike flap in it's housing made it work!! May just be a complete coincidence but I found it worked again yesterday after I picked it up after dropping it?????

    All other settings as follows:

In control panel - sounds and audio devices - audio tab - sound playback and recording set to Bluetooth Audio and also voice tab - set to bluetooth audio

VCM paired and connected ok. The Acer Bluetooth Voip phone software from Acer website installed and in the background with another bar like VCMs.

I will switch off later and try it again to make sure not a fluke but am sure the physical mike on the phone may be the problem, as I distinctly remember it working after dropping it???

Karen, thank you so much! Under TravelMate 8200 there are a bunch of drivers that inexplicably do not show up in the US site. I installed the package for the Bluetooth VoIP phone, but ultimately it was the packaged labelled simply "Bluetooth" that did the trick. BTW, this is the WIDCOMM driver that I mentioned in #16 above. Once I installed that, it worked beautifully. Thanks again for your help.

Now if I could just figure out why my audio (outside of telephony) has started skipping. Seriously, it sounds like Fatboy Slim has remixed my Windows startup sound.

    Later.

Also, for reference, I uninstalled Acer VCM. It didn't seem to be adding anything, slowed my system startup and put that annoying floating window at the top of my screen. Everything still works fine.

    Hi Laslowh

That's briiliant pleased I could help! My phone is working great now too, I have found that if you flip the phone flap out past where it rests it springs into life, so all ok after 3 days of trying to sort it out, the only problem I have with it is that the charge light does not come on when in its pcima slot, it does seem to charge though I think?

I have left the VCM software on, as when I flip the phone I can see it switch to bluetooth from it saying built in audio device, that way I know it is working ok.

    Dear all,

I am the engineer of Acer.
The above problems i will check as soon as possible.
We need your help to make the VCM utility better.

The following is some trouble shooting of Acer VoIP phone.
1.Acer VCM will detect your bluetooth dongle is on or off. If the power of your NB bluetooth dongle is off, VCM will disabled Bluetooth headset connection center.

2.After you using bluetooth headset connection center to connect your Acer Bluetooth VoIP phone in the first time, Acer VCM will auto-connect to your Acer Bluetooth VoIP phone everytime when you power on your Acer Bluetooth VoIP phone (Please make sure your NB bluetooth power is on).

3.You can check the Acer Bluetooth VoIP phone is connected to the NB successful or not by following
    a. Check the Bluetooth connection/pairing indicator of your Bluetooth VoIP phone, it will blinking slow after
it connect to the NB successful.
    b. Push the Bluetooth connection/pairing button of your VoIP phone (middle button), you can see the VCM
info bar will change system-built-in audio device to Bluetooth device. in the meantime, the audio will
switch to your VoIP phone. (Please make sure the system default audio device is Realtek HD Audio in the
    Control panel/Sounds and Audio Device)

4.VCM can help user to pick up/hang on the MSN Messenger or Skype Call using your VoIP phone. When the incoming call comes, you just need to the pust Bluetooth connection/pairing button, VCM will pick up the call automatically.

to use acer vcm voip bluetooth phone with skype, you need to follow as below.

    For Skype users:

After installing Skype, open Skype client, then choose Tools > Options > Sound Devices. Set the Audio In/Out/Ringing Sound Device to Windows default device, then uncheck the “Enable automating sound device settings adjustment” option (for Skype 1.3) or “Let Skype adjust my sound device settings” option (for Skype 1.4).

This is in the acer vcm help (right click taskbar), but no where else I can find!

I've got the same problem you have. I've got an Acer Aspire 5672WLMI and and the VT25010 VoIP Phone. I managed to turn it on once, but during the first pairing it just turned itself off. When I charge it the charging light is on, but I can not turn the device on. Piece of crap?

I am using the acer VCM on a Acer TravelMate 3012wtmi.
I reinstalled windows xp when I got the computer to switch to an eglish version so I now use the xp bluetooth stack. As descrived in other posts, I get the "Bluetooth headset connection center (disabled)" in acer VCM tool even if I switch on the bluetooth on my computer.
I can pair the voip phone of couse but it is just recognized by the windows tool.
I guess I need to get a widcomm stack (or broadcom) so that the Acer VCM tool will detect when I switch on the bluetooth device on my computer, but I don't know where to find it.
So basically I would like to know if someone managed to get this device working on the travelmate 3012 and which stack did they use for the bluetooth?

    Thanks,

    Julien

Hi! I´ve also got problems with the VT25010 phone. I got it with a TM 3022WTMI. I am half way through already. I can pair the phone with the laptop after switching on the phone and the bluetooth on the laptop. When pressing the middle button on the phone the VCM display switches to Bluetooth-Audio-device. But then the phone only works when I switch the audio settings in the control panel to bluetooth. The annoying thing is that with each booting of the laptop I get a message to switch audio back to RealTek as VCM would switch to Bluetooth automatically. And that´s exactly what it doesn´t do. Any ideas?

    Hi,

I bought a Acer Bluetooth Voip Phone on ebay for $27.00 + $5.00 for postage. I wasn't sure whether I could use it with my old Travelmate 213TXV. But I was surprised that It immediately paired with the computer (have a bluetooth dongle with bluesoliel software) and was quick and easy to confugure with skype.

Also was able to configure with a voip softphone with Pennytel for overseas calls.

It is a small portable, rechargeable speaker. Pretty happy with ebay purchases sometimes.

The VCM thing seems like I good idea, but I don't have it! I've got a Travelmate 3010 but I can't find anything like a VCM installed. So where can I get it?

Why do I think I nedd it? If I change my controlpanelsettings to bluetooth sound device, everything works fine. But setting to sound device in MSN messenger gets me nowhere.

I've recently bought a TravelMate 8204WLMi and have had all sorts of problems with the Bluetooth VoIP phone. The biggest problem of all is that the documentation supplied by Acer with this laptop is worse than useless, particularly where trying to get the phone to work.

The problem is that there is no real explanation of how to set it up and what exactly the Acer VCM software does. Especially the problem is that it only supports two applications and there is no way to add alternatives. I use SightSpeed rather than the obligatory Skype that is all (other than MSN Messenger, which itself no longer exists, having been replaced by Live Messenger) that Acer VCM supports. Even Acer Support were a waste of time in trying to resolve this problem.

(By the way, don't bother trying to use Acer's email support. If your experience is anything like mine you'll die of old age before they respond. I waited two weeks and still had to phone them to get any "action". And that wasn't on just one occasion. That [didn't] happened twice.)

By trial and error and by exploring a few of the things mentioned in this topic I have finally got it to work. Although all the indications were that the phone was correctly connected to the laptop, playing the Skype (which I was forced to install just to try to get this all working) connection test, absolutely no sound came through the phone although I knew that the connection to Skype worked as by designating the laptop's mike and speakers as the input and output devices, I could get it to work.

Eventually I tried completely switching off Acer VCM and suddently everything sprung into life. Connecting the phone through My Bluetooth Places produced a jolly little tune to come out of the phone, which I soon discovered is your prompt to press the Bluetooth button on the phone to confirm the pairing (good security!). I didn't get that with Acer VCM switched on!

Once paired I retried the Skype connection test and, Hey Presto, success. Going back to SightSpeed, I tried the same process and that now works as well.

So, the conclusion is that the Acer VCM is not just unnecessary, it's a positive hinderence. However, you don't have to uninstall it. Just go to the Startup folder in the Program list on the Start button and delete it. That will delete the shortcut and prevent it initialising at startup, then all will be well.

This thread seems to have come to a grinding halt, but the problems continue.

I just bought an ACER Travelmate 3040 and the VOiP phone system is hopeless. The phone does switch on and beeps but I can find no way to make it work, and I've spent 3 days at it so far. The alleged system of pressing F10 to switch the aurdio from the PC to the phone simply does not work.

If I double click the VCM ICON on the desktop I get an error saying it only works on ACER laptops!! I told ACER tech support about this and the only advice was to institute a system recovery. I've done this twice with no effect.

This is my first experience of ACER after 35 years in home computers and I'm beginning to why I didn't purchase something from a reputable company.

Acer Bluetooth VoIP phone manual sucks. However once you install it, it is a very good product. I am a first-time bluetooth device user. Hopefully this message helps.

The phone comes with my new as5680 laptop. It took me a while to get it work with my laptop. I dont use ACM because it can not detect my phone at all.

    Here is my steps.

    1. recharge your phone. Slide the phone (faceup) in the PC card slot (if you get new PCMIC hardware found message, simply ignore it) and the amble light (right light on the bottom of the phone) blinks. After fully charged, the light will go off.

    2. intall your phone driver using the disc with it. Not much to say for installation.

    3. turn your bluetooth device on on your laptop. there is a button with butterfly sign on the front of your laptop pannel. a blue light will be on if you switch the button. you might check with your laptop manual to locate the button.

    4. connect your phone to your laptop
    a. double click 'Bluetooth devices' in control pannel and select 'devices' tab. then click 'Add' button, it will prompt you a message to ask you turn on your bluetooth device.

    b. To turn your phone on.
press and hold the the power button (the most right button) on your phone untill you hear two 'bee bee' sound and you will see the left light (amble) blinks at a low pace.

    c. To turn your phone's bluetooth on
press the bluetooth button with butterfly sign ( the middle button) till the blue light (the left light)flashes. Your phone is ready to be searched by your laptop now.

    d. Check 'My bluetooth is on and ready to be found' and click 'Next' in 'bluetooth devices' window. your laptop will start search available bluetooth devices. If your phone's blue light is off this moment, redo step c. make sure the blue light flashes while your laptop is searching.

    e. If your laptop detect your phone, it will prompt you a message to ask for passkey. Select 'choose my own passkey' and enter '4444' for passkey. and click 'Continue'. then you will get your phone in the list with status 'paired and connected'. Now you will see the blue light on the phone flashes at a low pace.

    f. Select 'Audio' tab in bluetooth devices, you will see your phone is the audio list with status 'connected blabalbla'. Next time if your phone is disconnecte, you can just go to this tab and click 'Connect' Button.

    g. Now your phone is ready to use now. Change the audio setting in your messenger live or skype. Enjoy your conversation. :)

    Notes:
Make sure your phone is fully charged to avoid connection problem. Once even the blue light on the phone blinked, it could not connect to the laptop. after I recharged it, it connected without any problem. There is no power level indicator on the phone. Maybe Acer should add a power level indicator.

Hi guys, I also have problem to get Acer Bluetooth VoIP phone working with Skype. When I open the phone, (turn on), pc inform that everything is ok, and new device has been connected. Also in Skype list, I can choose bluetooth device as sound device, but can't get any voice and my mic doesn't work at all. Without this device , using my laptop own mic and speakers, everything is fine.
If you have any idea what to do, it will very much appreciated, thanks.

Has anyone yet solved the problem with connection the Acer Voip Phone?
I still get the message "bluetooth connection center (disabled) and greyed out and I too have had no response from Acer that makes sense.
    Thanks

I am having so much trouble getting my Acer Ferrari 5000 Voip phone set-up.

I had to get a new hard drive recently and I needed to install windows again, so went with XP instead of vista. Now I have downloaded all the needed from here: http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/notebook/ferrari5000.html which included the Bluetooth CardPhone 1.2.1.2 for XP.

I installed everything and I now have the VPN bar on my desktop and in it is also showing in the notification area.

The problem lies in the fact that when I right click the icon in my notification area, the "Bluetooth Headset Connection Center" is not only disabled, but it is grayed out too and NOTHING I do makes it available. PLEEEEEEEEEASE Help with getting this set-up. It is driving me crazy...

hello there mr. engineer, got my voip phone which come with as6935g. the back side on top left say it's model CP22 rating 3.7v. my laptop could not detect the device and I don't even know where is ON/OFF button for this stuff. Push all the button I could get on it; answer phone/'-' button in the middle/end call button/volume button on the right side but there are no indicator to say if it's on or off :( . go to control panel>bluetooth device>device and try to add but no success. go to sound and set realtech as default device but I could not hear song came out of my laptop speaker and meaning cannot hear the music from WINAMP or WMP. right click on VCM task bar but 'Bluetooth Headset Connection Center (disable)'
try to translate my word into the picture as below (if I manage to link the picture here)

I have no problem with charging the phone though... and when I push end call button and - button as in instruction it's beep, orange & blue light will appear accordingly to what whichever button I push

I have fixed my problem after attempting everything else possible.

I will not be checking this site for questions - if you have any, please email them to me ([email protected]).

    Go to:
    http://us.acer.com/acer/service.do?...tx1g.c2att92=453&ctx1.att21k=1&CRC=2054404012

and click, notebook, ferrari, and you're model...download the new BIDCOMM 5.1.0.3300 Bluetooth Driver for your correct operating system....

I have an Acer Ferrari 1004 and after pointless calls to the acer technicians, I clicked on the Ferrari 1100 model and downloaded BIDCOMM 5.1.0.3300 Bluetooth Driver for Win XP 32 Bit......

    This worked beautifully for me...

My suggestion is to choose a model higher and download ITS Bluetooth drivers..and try it out...

    Hope this helps..

It seems that you have bought it in a low price in eBay. Fortunately, it is compatible with your Travelmate 213TXV. Most of the Bluetooth Voip Phone has a compatibility in device.
