I have a brand new notebook with an 802.11a/b/g/n card, and am trying to add it to our existing 802.11g wireless network. I installed the network settings onto a flash drive and ran the wizard, but when I try to log onto the network it tells me something about the network denied access authorization or something like that. Please help. Is it something in the network settings?

You know it's really hard to figure things out if people don't know what's going on. More info pls.

That's pretty much all I know. All the hardware is compatible, I followed Windows instructions to load the network settings onto a flash drive and installed it onto the laptop. Then I selected "connect to" from the start menu and selected our family network, which is security enabled.

It fails to connect, and when I diagnose it says that the network has refused to allow association. The thing is, I can't find a setting anywhere on the computers on the network about that authorization. When I try to change the network settings, I don't see a feature. The network has both xp and Vista machines already on it. I'll write exactly what it says in a couple minutes.

"the network denied the association request from this computer"

I thought installing the network settings would take care of that. It won't even ask for the password.

Try typing in the network settings manually. And if you running mixed mode just set the network to g.
