EDIT: Should read - ASUS WL-520gU vs WL- 500gP v2

Just curious if anyone knows the real difference between these routers.

I'm guessing it's the NAS-like function, but I'm not sure where to compare spec for spec.

My main concern is processor speed, RAM size, & flash size.

    Thanks for any help/leads.

    Most Excellent, +1 for you

Just in case anyone is interested, the big differences are that the Premium v2 has double the RAM & Flash memory, and it comes with 2 USB ports for Printers or USB flash/harddrives (whereas the U only has one usb slot for a printer).

yeah, I want DD-WRT for sure.

Not sure if I want to drop $100 on that though. Still debating, perhaps you'll get me yet =]

Besides, I only have one device that is N, and 6 that are G...would it really matter?

True, I'll keep an eye out for it. I may even look into a Square Trade warranty. I've seen reports of numerous Asus routers pooping out around 18 months, with a 3-year warranty at ~$15, it wouldn't be a bad investment.

    EDIT:
Wow, you must have landed a stellar deal, right now it's at $119, when did you purchase?

No it doesn't even though radio chip supports it. It also cannot be enabled by DD-WRT.

Odd, must have had a nice volume discount on the 5GHz radios.

    Thanks for the update

bought it about 6-8 weeks ago . And I have to say it has the best range of al my routers , plus the fact I can change the antennas to tweak a bit more range if I need . So far I'm happy , use the Asus with my 3700 as an ap for my 5 ghz band clients .

If you ahve tomato firmware on wl520gu, then you can just hook up a usb hub and get up to 128 usb bi-dirctional printers(AIO) as well as Samba usb NAS.
