Ever since I got my new laptop I haven't been able to get DCC or File Transfer to work with anyone on AIM - even computers on my same server. I just checked my firewall and it has an exception for AIM to work, but still nothing. What setting changes could I possibly be missing?

What server OS are you running? Windows 2000 Server? Windows 2003 Server? What router are you using? What assigns IP addresses, your server or your router? Can you transfer files via AIM if you use a different computer on your network?

XP with a Netgear WGR614v5 router and a Ariis Telephony modem. All the IP addresses have been set up statically. And I don't know about sending files with another computer. I'll try that and get back to you.

It doesn't sound like you have a server. Perhaps you meant you have several computers connected to the router, and you have a workgroup set up for file sharing, ICS, printer sharing, etc?

Yeah, that's what I have. But even so, I need to be able to file send to any other computers and can't do that.

I have the same problem--except that my old computer is a Mac and my new one is a Thinkpad (WindowsXPproSP2). Maybe it just isnt possible between different platforms. But for you, if they are all Windows, then you should be able to unless one of the two computers you are trying out is not set up properly (Firewall settings).
