SO after months of issues with two intel 7260s in different computers ive made the mistake of buying an 8260 to replace the one in my MSI GT80. Now instead of just randomly breaking itself, it now randomly breaks itself AND breaks itself when the computer wakes from sleep! Are there any wireless cards that aren't mass defective??? I just want one computer without this kind of issue! Did i miss a miracle driver? How does anyone get these to work?

I've tried the winsocks and hitting the resetlog.log and i've tried multiple drivers, but nothing is working! Is there a specific chipset the motherboard has to have to use these without activating the timebomb crash?

I had absolutely ZERO problems with my Intel 8260, although I rarely used it after putting the computer to sleep (since I never used sleep mode; SSD's take less than 10 seconds to load windows). But the few times I did put it to sleep, it did wake up. I have an 8265 now with no problems.

Are you using the PROSET software? Everyone says proset causes problems.
    try using driver only.

click the one that says Driver.

Uninstall the Intel PRO/SET then the Intel Bluetooth Software from Control Panel > Programs & Features then reboot.

Now, download the latest driver: Intel WLAN Driver v19.50.1.5 / BT v19.60.0

Install the WLAN Driver from device manager by pointing to the extracted folder INF Files after right clicking on the Network Controller device if it was unidentified or expanding the Network Adapters and choosing the Intel WLAN Card then right click and choose update driver.

Reboot, then install the latest Bluetooth driver linked above then reboot again.

    Lemme know if that works.

After a mess with another laptop ive got some time to try this.. but so far the non PROset driver still has the issue, it breaks after sleep. So bad infact that the device stops showing in device manager after it breaks its own neck. Please, please is there some secret wireless card that nobody talks about that doesn't always do this stuff? Do i just need to buy a new laptop every time an X260 card fails? My GT80 really cant be used portably anymore, i have to use ethernet, why don't any of the cards work?

EDIT: It's even teasing me by working for 10 seconds and then doing it, what kind of sick person designs a product to do this?

EDIT2: and rebooting the computer keeps loading up some driver i didnt install, this is killing me, why can't i have a working wireless card??

EDIT3: And now it wont even stay connected before the sleep mode

EDIT4: Cellphones often use qualcomm wireless chips right? those usually work, are there equivalents available for laptops?

The latest drivers do the same thing, there's no BIOS updates, the winsocks do nothing and there's no manufacturer driver.

How do you people get working cards? What source do you get them from??

@Rothcall I had a few bad Intel 7260 cards - Bluetooth wasn't working, no matter what I did - had to replace them with 7260 bought from another seller - but wi-fi was fine even on faulty cards. About 1.5-2 years ago drivers for 7260 were terrible, but now they're ok - namely, Windows update drivers for 7260/8260 are stable. Your problem is likely caused by something else, not the wireless cards themselves.

I really don't know what else to try. I've reinstalled windows, checked the BIOS, tried different drivers, done PROset and non-PROset, did the "dont disable to save power" thing, done the winsock resets and stuff, and tried different OS versions. What could it be outside the card? Especially when this was happening on multiple computers in multiple places? And no cellphones pull this, it's *only* been PC wireless cards.

I think i'm gonna cry. I finally found a new "solution" and it still doesn't work. Uninstalling/disabling the many WAN suchandsuch things under network adapters seems to effect the malicious behaviour, but it still crashes and burns when waking from sleep. The WAN things also seem to reinstall themselves on reboot.

This time the 8260 stays in device manager and says it cannot start.

@Rothcall: Did you enable any power savings on your intel card? Check them out in device manager. Is your power plan set to balanced or High Performance?
Power saving option could be MIMO powersave or energy efficient WLAN or something.
    Also, check wireless cables too.

Tried all that, i had to switch it back to the 7260 to get at least spotty usage of wifi

Seriously how do you people get working wifi cards? i have to turn wifi off and back on every 10 minutes to keep connection, it's ridiculous! And nobody has a solution after YEARS of these issues happening to people.

Is there some implied tweaks you're supposed to do upon getting a laptop like redoing the thermal paste but for wireless cards to prevent supernaturally bad issues like this?

AnD iT DiD iT aGaIn WhIle SaViNg ThIs oMfG

The 7260 is about as usable as a microwave is as a wireless card, and the 8260 might as well be a potato chip, why are these being marketed as wireless cards when they never work?!

Why doesn't qualcomm make wireless chips for PCs? Their chips in phones do not do this.

Set Roaming aggressiveness to Lowest and Set the card to prefer 2.4G or 5G band. Do this tweaks in Device Manager -> Network Adapter -> Properties.

    @Rothcall

Could you post screenshots off all the advanced driver settings for the 7260?
I have a 7260 that I had problems with (which I have solved) on a Win 7 notebook and a 7265 on a Win 10 machine so I have a good base for comparisons.

By the way Qualcomm does make chips for computers - they bought Atheros a while ago, so anything called QCA or Atheros or for that matter Killer is based on the chips from the same company.
