802.11n wireless

So I just ordered a Lenovo z61t. I upgraded (for 25 smackolas) to the a/b/g/n card. I have a few questions about it:

1) Where will the speed increase? computer-router, comp-internet?

2) What will be slowing me down the most if I had an 802.11n router?

3) Do any businesses/schools use this yet?

Well I know your answer to number 3.

A lot of schools are starting to move towards N routers. I noticed my school already has one.

 

1. The speed will increase in your speed from pc to router (assuming you HAVE a Draftn router. It will also allow for farther transmission of data. It is backwards compatible. Your internet speed with not increase, although gaming pings should be faster over the wireless since you have a highbandwidth to the router than 54mb.

2. I am confused as to that question, as far as what? Your internet speed will be the fastest it can be over wireless compared to G. Your gaming speed will increase since you have a higher connection to the draftn. The only thing that can slow you down is EMI/RFI / lots of walls / slow Internet connection speed iteslf. If you already have a slow ISP, going draft n will not speed it up.

3. Some schools are, it varies state to state vs college to high school.
Draft n just recently got fully certified ISO wise.

 

11n is still in DRAFT what was ratified was draft spec 1.10 . Will be over a year before the spec is out of draft.

 

Ultimately, your internet speed is limit by your ISP. Yes, using draft n (or even the final version of N) will speed uo your home netowk, but that's about it.

 

Along with the speed,your range can increase up to 20% also.
