    802.11b speed works on 5.5mbps HELP

    hey guys i want to know that why 802.11b WLAN speed is 5.5mbps on air but it connect on 11 MBPS plz tell me why its speed is half is there any software that i can use to utilize my full speed plz tel me guys [ :)]

    with wireless technologies, it has the capability to automatically "roll-back" to a lower speed in the case there is not enough signal quality to maintain a higher connection (in your case 11Mbps).

    You'll get 11Mps fairly close to the router. If all you are doing is sufing, you don't need the faster speed. My card sometimes drops to 2Mb but since I'm only doing email and surfing I never notice. Even when it is at 2Mb it never seems slower than my desktop which connected directly to the router via cable.
