Just curious if anyone has actually tested to see if the longer antennae of the full height card makes a difference compared with the half length Intel WiFi Link 5300. Though I know there are many other factors including location on the notebook and interference from components, I just wanted to see what people think. My guess is that the difference would be miniscule and unnoticeable. Also, are there differences btw part numbers?

Here are some P/N I've found for the 5300:
    533AN_MMW
    533AN_MMWG
    533AN_MMWG2
    533AN_MMWW
    533AN_MMWW2
    533AN_HMW
    533AN_HMWG
    533AN_HMWG2

From what I gather, the first M/H is for full sized Minicard/Half sized card respectively, but not sure about the rest of the letters and Intel documentation only states the MMW and HMW.

The antennas are not on the card. The antennas have to be connected to the card. Thus, there's no difference between full height or half height in this point. So, what do you mean by longer antennae of the full height card?

FYI, I have both WiFi Link 5300 versions, half and full height. Written on the labels are only 533AN_HMW and 533AN_MMW. Don't know about the extra letters.

Thanks, that makes a lot more sense now regarding the antennae. Still hope someone can shed light on the model numbers.

They do not have the same part number
full mini part number is PCODE:533AN_MMWW RETAIL BOXED WITH software which I have.
Item with prefix WG tend to be the half mini cards..
So yes there is a difference.

According to Intel, HMW should be half not those just ending with WG. For example, 533AN_MMWG should be a full sized minicard. Are you saying that this is in fact half sized?
