I am using a Dell XPS 1530 notebook with Vista. Since I've had it (about 5 months) it takes approx five to ten minutes to connect to my wireless network. I have anotherXP pc that connects fine to the network. I can't seem to figure out why this. I believe my antivirus/firewall is set up correctly, and if it wasn't I would think it would not connect at all. Is this normal for Vista or could it be caused by something else I should look into. Thanks for any help.

Have you tried reinstalling the drivers from here?

I'm surprised how patient you are, I wouldn't wait not even 30 seconds. How far are you from the router?

I am usually in the same room as the router. I thought maybe it was a laptop thing. I am going to try and re-install the driver as Bog mentioned and see if that helps.

I'm beginning to get funny feelings.... about Intel 4965 a/g/n routers- is that the kind you're running? If so mine keeps dropping g connections for some reason... even with a driver update it dropped a Belkin g connection. What type of router is it?

You said the magic word, Belkin. belkin routers are the least reliable of all I have used. If you search the forum you will find a lot of problems related with belkin.

I would remove the location from your NB and re-enter the key when prompted. It almost sounds like it having a problem auth. Also turn off IP6 on the Vista NB.
