When i am connected at school via wireless, people can not receive my msn messages... I can receive the messages but everyone says they cannot see it...

I have the latest driver from intel site.
    whats wrong with my msn?
it works fine at home wireless or ethernet...

my other friends can use msn fine...

Also, i find when i play lan games via wirelss, i lag more than others and they mostly have 2200bg

is it my wireless card that is faulty?

Is your connection managed by the intel wireless manager or by windows?

You may also need a lower MTU like 1492. But you want MS to manage the wireless. Intel manager is huge and requires a lot of resources. Do you have your personal fw setup for a different subnet at your school?

    hmmm
no i have vista and when i tried to get intel wireless it just updated drivers only.

so the connection is managed by windows vista bussiness...
The way i connect to school wireless is just like normal wireless but you get redirected to a login page when you try to load a page and you have to login with school id/pw to get full connection.

    what is this mtu stuff?

i have set the settings for my wirelss to maximum performance

    Maximum Transmission Unit (MTU)

This parameter specifies the Maximum Transmission Unit (MTU) for a network interface. By optimizing the MTU setting you can gain substantial network performance increases.

    Recommended Values
    # 576 - Dial-up Connections
    # 1492 - PPPoE Broadband Connections
    # 1500 - Ethernet, DSL and Cable Broadband Connections

In most cases 1500 works, but when things act strange it doesn't hurt to try.
