    Hi there,

I have Vaio cr220 with 4965AGN and i'm really disappointed of this w-fi.
In most cases i have troubles.
    Examples:

    1. I'm goin to cafe onening my vaio and it's automatically connect to wireless (best case)
    2. Goin to other cafe. It's connected but said - Limited or no connectivity!! But the frend of mine with HP no such problems next to me. When I compared mine and his assigned IPs I realised that my card assigned absolutely wrong IPs!!!
Then I typed the same IPs manually as my frend's and all goes well!
    3. In other place automatically connects and start browsing but from time to time internet just stops and again "Limited or No connectivity" !!!!

I've tested on XP and Vista same result!
I'm pretty sure that there is some settings set wrong by default but dont know which ones???

    any help?

    thanks in advance

. if u have another wifi manager utitlity running at start up, disable it and see if any improvements
. ask the local, where the free wifi is being offered, about a quick guide as how to tune ur comp to get the most connection performance out of it

    cheers ...

If you have a location that has the same subnet but uses auth will cause problem. With most everyone keeping default settings this is most likely happening. As you go to different location make a note of the IP's . Then compare it to ones (home) and see it that have the same subnet.

Then check your FW settings. If different subnets, rules need to be set to allow, or set to discover local networks. Which is very risky, if you have sharing on or connect to sites requiring passwords. The only way I would use a PW on a public hotspot would be through a VPN tunnel. Who knows if you did not connect to someones NB setup with ICS and is capturing all packets. The man in the middle attack is very easy to setup and is very hard to detect.
