Looking for some help setting up a Vaio SZ645P2 with Win XP SP2. I have Sony's version of the 4965AGN driver and PROSet software installed currently, although I've tried Intel's newest driver as well. No antivirus at the moment (fresh install of XP).

My problem is, if I have the Marvell Yukon LAN port enabled (no cable plugged in), and try to connect wirelessly, PROSet tells me it is connected and authenticated, however, the IP address and subnet is 0.0.0.0. I can not browse the network at all. However, if I disable the LAN port, the PROSet software will connect and authenticate to our company's 802.1x network without any problem. I am able to browse the network.

I've tried setting a static IP address on both the NIC and wireless NIC and it still has the same problem. I'm not really sure how to troubleshoot this any further. Does anyone have a suggestion?

    Thanks!

Sound like maybe a firewall is blocking the port. Make sure your set for DHCP, and not using a proxy.

Also make sure you have a Unique SSID, duplicates cause problems.
Try changing the order of wireless locations and remove any not used, and turn off the auto connect on the ones not used often.

Go to run > cmd > ipconfig/all, right click select copy or press enter and paste results here so we can see what might be wrong.

It sounds like a Proset issue. Wireless and Ethernet cannot work at the same time and as you have seen, you had to manually disable the Ethernet port.

If Windows was managing the connection it would automatically disable Ethernet and then enable wireless and vice versa. Since Proset is managing the connections it seems that it is not doing that and your having to.

I would look in the proset software for configuration issues such as "Verify that the Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings box is not selected. If it is, deselect it."
