I'm thinking of replacing my single band WRT310N with dual band wireless router. But...

There are several news earlier this year saying that Ralink made router chipsets capable of 450Mbps or Trendnet and D-Link to release router with 450Mbps capability, but AFAIK no products in the maret yet.

When can we expect wireless N routers capable of 3x3 transmission of 450 Mbps from major brands such as Linksys, Netgear, D-Link, Belkin to hit the market?

Just because a Router is CAPABLE of a certain speed doesn't mean that your Network is going to ATTAIN that speed. Your overall network setup, ISP, CPU, processes, drive fragmentation, system configuration, etc. all contribute to the overall speed of your network.

Read this and it'll give you a better idea: UNDERSTANDING THROUGHPUT

Even though it's for an HP notebook, most systems are going to or have gone to the same standard, so it's germaine to the topic.

BTW, the WRT600N is better than the 610N - the 610N failed a head/head test with other DBN routers: Dual-Band Router Showdown

Of course I know there is network overhead. But that's not my point...

I wanted to upgrade my wireless router to dual band because I currently live in an apartment building where 2.4GHz band is very crowded. Typical apartments here in Tokyo are small and buildings are close by, at least I can detect 12 SSIDs as I write this.

I could just pick any good simultaneous dual band wireless router currently available in the market, but reading the news early this year that manufacturers were about to release to the market 450Mbps capable wireless routers which might unleash the full potential of my Intel WiFi Link 5300 card inside one of my notebooks, it made me opted to wait.

Sadly up until now, no known product available on shelves yet, or there is already?

Have you googled? You have about as much access to the potential news-sources as the rest of us do.

I have. At least up to yesterday the news was still the same as the ones I read earlier this year. I'm hoping there's somebody who can share the latest info on this.
