I have a SZ6 as in my sig below and for some reason my wireless turns on/off every 20mins and its soo irritating say im typing an email and i press send and it didnt autosave as draft then i loose the whole email becuz the wireless resetted and so did the cookies or whatever for the site.
I know this becuase I use Yahoo Messenger and like every 10-20mins it goes on off, like im talking to someone it dissappears for a milisecond and then it signs in again like nothing ever happened but i lose my chat windows and conference windows which is extremly irritating. my drivers are supposedly upgraded and i tried to put a 5300 in my PC...it accepts a full mini and i put in a half mini and taped down one side to the motherboard and had to add my own 3rd antenna anyways it didnt recognize the card so i downloaded drivers off intel.com from another another pc and installed them and restarted. the card showed up as working and in device manager there were no conflicts but it wasnt working at all so i got fed up after 2 hrs of trying everything and just put my 3945 back and it worked okay but ive had this problem for last few weeks for some reason, but 2 weeks ago i re installed a fresh copy of windows 7 and same problem occurs, what should i do?

Check you energy management settings. Sound like it is being turned off, set to always on, do not reduce power. Some even have a keep a live feature.

I personally do that as soon as windows is installed. I never use my laptop/table on power saving.

It still drops connection like mad, though sometimes it will stay active for 15 minutes then die, other days it will work for 5 hours and then die.

I would personally reccomend the Intel 5300AGN for your laptop (granted it has the Mini PCI-e slot rather than the mPCI slot my hp has).

My G50VT-X5 came with an Intel 5100AGN and it was horrid, upgrading to the 5300 was like night and day. I find that the Atheros Wireless cards are also good as my UL80VT has one (AR9285 ABGN) and I have had no problems with it either.

You can get the Intel 5300AGN for around 15 w free shipping off of eBay, the Atheros should be the same price.

One thing you will want to google is the Wireless Card Compatibility List for your laptop since manufacturers like HP and IBM strictly allow only their "HP or IBM" branded cards...

The 5300AGN also has 3 antenna hookups so you get much better reception...

yeah ill go for the Intel 5300. I have had bad experiences with Atheros cards, really bad dropouts and it was just a headache overall, now my dad has the F and it keeps dropping signals and restarting automatically.

okay i need like URGENT help, so i borrowed my friends 4965AGN Card half full card and the same thing happened that happened with my 5300 it loaded the driver and all but its showing a greyed out bar signals with a red X through it saying that No connection is available...now everything shows its working working properly and all and then when i got to Sony Network utility the WAN is unchecked and when i try to check it it loads for min and then does nothing i check status and says WAN Off and i dont know what to do so i put my 3945 back in my laptop and its not working at all either now........

@millermagic.....please let me know what options should I change? i had roaming aggressiveness set at default which is 3 right now, but i tried changing it up and down and changed different settings in ADVANCED but no luck at all, ive tried uninstalling and letting windows re install it again but no luck and i feel like ive screwed my WIFI card somehow.........

the oddest thing is that BOTH the 5300 and 4965 arent working at all when they should be working okay and it shows up as enabled and working properly but no signals.....last night i just stuck my 3945 back and it worked so my doubts on the antennas were gone and since the cards are showing up that means the PCI e slot is fine as well....so what could be the problem?
