Hi, I just bought DLink DIR-600L for my simple home network. It's one of the cheapest 150 Mbps Lite-N routers out there.
    Currently I'm getting around :
    - Upoad 52 Mbps (6.5 MB/s)
    - Download : 73 Mbps (9 MB/s)
from my laptop to my desktop computer (tested using 300MB file transfer).

I'm quite satisfied, but I wonder if I can get double file transfer speed with 300Mbps N-Router like DLink DIR-615, DIR-605, Asus RT-N12, or anything sub $60. Is it worth the money ?
I don't need sophisticated router since I basically use it only to connect my laptop wirelessly to the internet or exchange files between my laptop & desktop.
    Thanks

No you won't get twice what you achieve now if you upgrade to 300mbps so you can safely leave it as it is.

Indeed, you'd need a dual band high end router if you want to achieve twice that.

I see. I think I will just stay with my current router.
I don't want to spend too much since it's not too critical for me.
    Thanks guys

You'll really only see a noticeable performance boost when transferring files over your home network (and even then, it won't be twice as fast, as already pointed out by the other helpful NBR usres).

Real world upload/download speeds outside of your network are hardly subjected to the wireless speed; I've talked to other techs that had high speed internet, and couldn't see any performance difference between their n150 wireless adapter and their n450 wireless.
