    Hi,
My wireless router, located on the second floor of my house is not enough powerful to feed my computer which is located in the basement.
So Ive decided to buy another modem (speedstream 5360) to feed my computer which is in the basement.
However, when I tried to connect the new modem I just received, the internet just shuts off on both modems .
So Ive concluded that we cant have unfortunatly 2 modem on the same line . (Ive just lost some money for nothing)
So i was wondering if I was right and if so, is there a way to bypass that? (to have 2 modems working on the same line)....

ps: arg... i knew i should of bought a more powerfull wireless router than spend my money on buying a second modem ><. I ve decided to buy another modem cause I use the computer in the basement for video gaming, so I didnt want to have it wireless since sometime wireless acts up (u know..)

If you're talking about dial-up, yeah you cannot have 2 because each one is calling the internet so to speak.

Are we talking about a dial-up modem? What service do you have (DSL, Cable, Dial-up, etc)?

Why don't you get a repeater for your wireless router?

You can play with repeater for your wireless, but you may find it better and more reliable to go with PoE. Or try setting your dsl modem/router up on the 1st floor. Then it may reach to the basement and 2nd floor.

The only way 2 DLS line will work is buy another service. Then you have to have it wired to where you want it, so it will not conflict with the other service.

woah. I was thinking of doing this just yesterday, with the same router, and same service. Kinda creepy coincidence. This also tends to happen with episodes of the simpsons on fox. During the day a funny part of a random episode of the simpsons pops in my head, and then that night the episode comes on.

Makes me feel like I'm in the Truman Show or something.
