Hi all, I'm wondering whether anyone can help me/provide solution for my problem.

    Problem Overview
I download BT files most of the time (Nearly 24/7). The problem is that usually, after sometime, for example, i left it downloading stuff overnight, when I wake up the next day, I can't open any website from my web browser(firefox, IE7). However, the BT is still running, downloads and uploads is still running fine. My Windows Live Messenger is also running fine (can chat or send files). Only browsing web-site is a problem. The status panel of my web browsers all said "Web site found" but it just stop there, showing no pages.

    ADSL Specs
24M ADSL (connected speed is around 18M)
    PPPoE (LLC)
Using Netgear DG834v3 Wireless Modem Router
phone line is connected directly to the router, around 2m.
house phone is connected from another socket, with a splitter, length around 10m

My household has 3 person using the connection including me. I'm connected by wireless, while the other 2 using network cable plug into the router. They're seldom online though. If it's only me using the connection, the problem is not so frequent. When one of the other laptops are connected and I'm downloading BT stuff, the internet connection would even drop off most of the time. If I'm not using BT, there's basically no problem.

Is there anyway to correct this problem? I set my BT client to have a global connection of 150, max 50 connection for each torrent files, and max half-open TCP is 25. I should consider it's already of really low values. With my connection speed, i would have thought i can set it higher.

I have been having this problem for a month already. Some one from another forum suggested lowering MTU size grants him a stable connection. I went to dslreport.com and my largest MTU is 1492, I lower it to 1472 but still problem exists. I'm not even sure whether changing it help anything or not. I also change my RWIN value to around 37000, before it was around 100000+

I'm suspecting wheter it's due to uPNP. The problem only occurs when BT is running, and after uPNP is detected. However, I tried disabling the uPNP function in the BT client, but problem still exist, but not so apparent (meaning web pages can be opened but rather slow, need to press refresh lots of time).

I'm really desperately in need of help. I always need to restart the router when this problem occur. Annoyingly, it will always take more than 10min to reconnect to my ISP, sometime even take an hour.

I hope someone can tell me what to do.

uPNP is a security Nightmare and shuold be disable, Dragged out doors and shot. By all means disable it. With it active BT can download and install any virus, spyware, key loggers with out your permission.

I do not like BT at all. It is useful if you restrict it's bandwidth and folder for it to operate in. Most just give the full reign and wonder why they have problems. Cut it's bandwidth to 25% max.

Well, I don't BT programs/executables, mostly music and movies. I'm chinese but in Australia, so you know, kinda miss songs and movies which is not easily accessible here.

Most programs utilise uPnP actually, and I really don't know what else to use besides uPnP. Manual port forwarding will be the 2nd option, but I don't like knowing i have port(s) opened all the time, i rather use uPnP since it'll close the port when programs exits.

    Anyway, going back on topic,
Saw from a post in whirlpool.net.au about fully enabling uPnP. After enabling SSDP discovery service and allowing uPnP framework in windows firewall, all seems good.

This is the first morning I wake up and find that I can surf websites! and my BT downloads still running and also even faster, at around 500kb/s (could only see 150kb/s the most before, even with well seeded torrents). So erm, maybe it is because my uPnP wasn't set up properly. and ideas?
