They are just as solid as they use the same chassis. We put in the Wifi, CPU, RAM, HDD/SSD, and install the OS. All the other parts are the same as you would get from a MSI branded computer. Feel free to contact us if you have any questions on them.

Maybe someone who has gotten one can chime in as well.

Don't forget you get less warranty. And I think no OS

As a base yes it would come without OS (so those who have one don't have to buy another).

    barebone vs retail differences:

    Warranty
    styling
    blue only keyboard
some touch functions can be different.

The base motherboard and components are of equal quality. They are a bit more flexible in options and can help square out as much bang per $ as possible.

Also the lid is hard plastic vs aluminum for the barebones. And the keyboard is non steel series and has more flex.

No the keyboard is the same physically apart from the colour LEDs and steeleries branding. I'd treat the aluminium veneer more as a cosmetic thing.

Lid is plastic vs aluminum effect.
Keyboard is non-steelseries vs steelseries, flex effect is about the same.
Warranty is 1-year vs 2-year + 1st year ADC if registered within 30 days.

They could end up being the exact same parts that MSI uses since MSI doesnt make any of those parts themselves. Those are just the parts that we do not get preinstalled when we get a barebones.

What is the difference in the lid - does it look different? Weigh less?
Is keyboard main difference really is that MSI version is mutli color backlit and Xotic is only blue? Do you notice a difference in steel series vs not?

I am pricing things out and the lid/keyboard/warranty/QA/Stress testing are the big differences for about $200, so trying to determine what those differences are.
