i have a ms-1652, in which i've put a msi mn11bgn wireless card. however, this laptop has three black wires inside, as well as a grey one. which wires should i hook up to the nic? also, my wife's intelPRO wireless-G card seems to pick up more networks than my new laptop. is there any way for me to improve the sensitivity, or is there a better wireless card i should get?

Use the 3 black wires they should be numbered, 123, and me personally, I like the WiFi link 5300 card.

do you think it would perform better? also, i forgot to mention this, but the mn11bgn only has two connectors... which results in my dilemma.

I am not familier with that card so you would need a second opinion. I would almost have to say the 5300 would be better than your current card. I am not sure if the 5300 would work in yours though

I have a barebone with the 5300 adapter in it. Works fine.

I'll post the exact model and stuff of mine for you in a bit when I turn the machine off.

The 5300 cards only go for $20 - $40 shipped tops on eGay.

so i put the 5300 in... the one i got off ebay came equipped with a sticker that said "for evaluation purposes only: not for resale." apparently someone forgot about that... and it works like a champ!

however, i also have a Atheros 5008 ar5bvb72 laying around. does anyone know which one is a superior nic? i'm currently running XP, and intend to go to 7, and skip vista entirely. the intel 5300 is newer, but the atheros is used by overly quality-conscious people like Apple. i have yet to find anyone, using google, who have tried to compare them.

    any thoughts?
