hi guys , i just want to know if anybody did the windwos 10 upgrade , and i want to know if there is any problem .
and i have a question about the upgrade , i know there is a recovery partition on the msi , but its for the windows 8.1 , so that means if i made the windows 10 upgrade , i dont have to use this recovery , so its better to delete it , right ?
can you tell me how to delete this factory recovery ? or at least if there is any way to replace it with a new factory recovery for windows 10 .

My GS30 migrated flawlessly, the touch pad was lacking but 24 hours later an update was pushed on it and it's back to how it was before.

It was my own windows 8 image since I had upgraded the 128GB SSDs with a pair of 500GB Samsung evo drives.

Just upgraded the gt72 last night, everything went well except for the fact that the install took like 2 hours, I think it's because I have been filling up the HDD rather quickly.

Did you check to see if you need to re-do the settings in the mouse settings (like the Elan or Realtek tab in it)? Maybe there is a Windows 10 driver on the touchpad manufacturer's site as well? That would be worth checking out those two things I would think.

i tried everything , uninstalling , install the new drivers , updating bios , and nothing works , so i made the windows 10 upgrade , and the problem still here , is there any solution for this ? thanks . -

I suggest you talk to your reseller, I would guess that is your intel display driver crashing (possibly due to bad ram).

I upgraded my GT70 and it went flawlessly. The only issue I had with the touchpad was I had to re-enable two figure scrolling. I have been very impressed with my GT70's ability to update drivers and OS so far. My old M17x r3 was brutal....The video drivers would normally crash upon install and when I tried to go to Windows 8 my dedicated GPU would no longer function.
-
also i made a test from
Windows Memory Diagnostic tool
and i didnt see any problem with the ram -

I suggest you make a backup because your issue does not seem like a very easy issue to clear up instantly, take a backup and follow their advice.

I upgraded my GT80 without problems so far. Even my intel XTU settings migrated with me.

i can't update my gt70 2pc dominator to windows 10, and a friend of mine with the same rig is having the same problem. When the installation process reaches 100%, it reboots my laptop and then show the following error: 0xC1900101 - 0x20017. The installation failed in the SAFE_OS phase with an error during BOOT operation
We have already received the notification that the update was available. We tried to update through the native update tool and downloaded the media creation tool to save the windows installer in a USB. Both methods didn't work.
We also have tried by disabling programs from startup, from services, and uninstalled antivirus. Which didn't work either.
Do you guys have any ideas what we could do?
Ps.: we both have an SSD (Samsung evo) as our primary drive and a hard drive as a secondary drive. -

Upgraded on the GT60 2OD (the 780m version) , mostly flawless, except for two very annoying issues.
1) SCM seems to have **** the bed. I'm not entirely sure what it is, but the moment I unplug my Razer Deathadder from the computer, the touchpad/disabledtpad graphic starts spazzing out, and SCM shows up as nonresponsive in the task manager. If I end SCM can use the touchpad again, but if I hit the enable/disable touchpad fn buttons the touchpad returns to being unusuable. I haven't figured out how to reanble it without a restart as of yet.
2) Very strange GPU glitches. I've already updated my 780m drivers to win10 (granted not a clean install). I set my GPU settings in nvidia control to default to the Intel GPU unless otherwise specified. However, when idling/general use (not gaming), the laptop appears to randomly switch to the Nvidia GPU for a few seconds. This is denoted by the MSi powerbutton changing colors from white to orange, and the screen stutters for a bit (like an fps stutter in a game). The vice versa also happens if I set the Nvidia GPU to default: the power button switches from orange to white for a bit, and the screen stutters as well.
Can't figure out any solutions to either of these; anyone have any ideas? -

I updated every drive(5) that had Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 and was eligible for the free update to Windows 10 on several PCs.
I made backup images of all the drives before updating.
After the updating I restored the drives back to Windows 7 and 8.1
I still have 1 Windows 10 Pro x64 installation that's on the Insider program -
-
I did it with my 5 years old Win7 Asus G51, no bigger problems. But going to wait with my GT70 0NE so far.

Don't upgrade to Win10 yet, because it's a bit unstable, such as app crashes.
Microsoft needs to work out the kinks, I hope they will release SP1 soon. -

Windows 10 Service Release 1 rolled out on August 5th.
A larger update is planned for October.
Apart from Windows 10 Service Release 1 and a bigger update planned for October, Microsoft is also working on Redstone releases for Windows 10 that will add more features in 2016.
Those still on the Insider build will get Redstone Updates as they become available.Kevin@GenTechPC likes this. -

Hi all.
Since I've upgraded my GT60 2OD (upgraded to 980m) from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 Pro I have a couple of issues with the Nvidia Control Panel / GPU:
1) When I enter Nvidia Control Panel, I can´t see all the options in menu (resolution, multiple displays, etc)
2) I always force on vsync through Nvidia Control Panel or Nvidia Inspector, but now Vsync is not active in any game (I have to activate it directly in game options).
I've tried 353.30, 353.62 and 355.60 drivers with no success, also clean installing/uninstalling drivers doesn't help. Is there any workaround for this issues? I can't roll back to Windows 8.1 now -

1. BIOS
2. EC firmware.
3. Intel HD Graphics driver.
4. Nvidia Graphics driver. -

1.- BIOS - E16F4IMS.51A
2.- EC Firmware - 16F4EMS1.517
3.- Intel HD Graphics driver - 10.18.15.4256
4.- Nvidia Graphics driver - 355.60 WHQL
I've read from other forums that this is happening apparently only in laptops and different GPUs (6xx, 7xx, 8xx and 9xx). -

Let's just let Win10 sort this out by doing an OS reset.
Then reload the drivers.
Be sure to perform Windows Update, and see how it goes. -

Perhaps the issue is associated with outdated BIOS?
VGA driver is also possibly a culprit. -
adriano_banano Notebook Consultant
Also, how can I check the latest VGA driver? I really like W10 (specially the Onedrive app) and works flawlessly at work tasks, but in gaming I had these issues that drove me mad -
Kevin@GenTechPC Company Representative
You should go with vendor directly for latest drivers such as Intel & Nvidia's own website. -
Well, since that other guy never replied I figured I'd put my 2 cents in.
Upgraded my GT80 (4th gen processor) and the networking doesn't work so I'm going to roll back to 8.1 - this is using the latest drivers from the killer download site.
MSI's response when I asked if there were windows 10 drivers coming for the 4th Gen line wasn't helpful either as it just points to a generic trouble shooting document.
Also their upgrade compatibility list only has an "i" ( http://event.msi.com/2015/windows10/en/upgrade.html#nb) - does that mean they're not doing drivers?
While it's a great laptop, overall I'm pretty disappointed with the windows 10 support for the 4th Gen processor versions.
The MSI response below:
Dear (my name),
Win10 drivers for the GT80 2QE 4th gen processor may not provided by MSI.Now I advise you to keep to use your current operation system. Also you can still upgrade to Windows 10 and use the Windows 8.1 driver/application from your notebook download page or use the Windows 10 built in driver/driver installed by Windows Update.
Please refer to below FAQ about How can I upgrade my Windows to Window 10?
http://www.msi.com/faq/nb-1762.html
In addition, you can install 5th gen Windows 10 versions driver, but we can't be sure it can work normally due to MSI doesn't test it.
Thank you and have a nice day!
Best Regards,
MSI Notebook Technical Application Department -
My wireless worked fine with windows 10. It was issues with games that brought me back to windows 8.1. I will consider upgrading again once Windows 10 is stable, but as far as I know, there are no particular drivers we need as most works right out the box.
We can use external drivers from each manufacturer of our individual parts, so maybe the latest killer drivers were not properly working with win10 but I do remember having no issues with wireless myself. -
WhatsThePoint Notebook Virtuoso
If you are updating a notebook from Windows 7 or 8.1 I suggest that after you get the FREE update you erase the drive and do a clean custom installation from USB media created from a legit ISO file.
Updating leaves a lot of old baggage so the clean installation IMO is the best way to go.
I have one SSD with the Insider Preview build 10532 that has gotten all the fast ring updates since the 1st Technical Preview and another SSD with the RTM build 10240 that was clean installed from an official ESD to ISO.
My other SSDs in 3 MSI notebooks and a desktop have Windows 8.1 Pro x64 and Windows 7 Ultimate x64.
The Windows 8.1 installs are my daily drivers, not Windows 10.
I have Killer N1525,Intel AC-7265 and Intel AC-7260 wireless cards and they all work well paired to a Netgear R7000 router
On the Insider Preview Windows will manage WiFi but on the clean install of RTM build 10240 I can turn off WiFi Sense and use a local account thus I can have Intel or Killer manage WiFi
BTW,Windows Update will deliver all the driver/software updates on Windows 10 Home(Core) and Pro so no need to worry about your drivers. On Home(Core) this driver update feature can't be turned off.Last edited: Aug 30, 2015 -

Yep, I also had troubles with games (control panel, nvidia inspector and vsync) so I rolled out to W8.1 again. I can't update the BIOS to 51D (when I try to update, screen just turns black) so I stick with 51A and wait for more stable drivers for my GT 60 2OD upgraded with a 980m

After updating to Windows 10, my MSI GT70-2QD has the GTX970M running all the time. I can see this because the middle icon is orange all the time.
How do I fix this so it'll go back to white? -
Does MSI have updated drivers for the GT70? If so you have to go to the support page on msi.com and download all the drivers for windows 10. You should have two graphics drivers on that machine. One is the intel onboard graphics and if you have an old driver it might not work and that would cause your GTX to run. If there is not a driver available then you might want to downgrade back to windows 8.1 until all the drivers are available.
