ok so as you know, i ordered an msi gx630 gaming laptop, that will come in tommorow. the laptop has great specs, but lacking in the cpu department.

its only running a 2.0ghz cpu, and i was wondering that if i bought this cpu for $60, would i be able to install it.?

    AMD Athlon 64 X2 7750 Kuma 2.7GHz 2 x 512KB L2 Cache 2MB L3 Cache Socket AM2+ 95W Dual-Core Processor

please let me know, email works best.

No it won't. This is a desktop processor. You need to look for AMD Turion X2 processors, they are made for laptop pcs

Yeah, the power requirements seem a bit off the grid also, the heat would also be too much. I know AMD are notorious for overclocking, prehaps that core you have at the moment can be pushed to say 2.5ghz maybe more.

Personally AMD mobile processor are not as good as Intel or even close IMO. Intel makes great mobile processors. But on the desktop side, I wouldn't mind an AMD.

I remember the good days of AMD 64 vs the crappy Pentium 4's. Those days AMD was the king, but now....

Yep me too. I had a crappy Pentium 4. Those processors were hot and horrible.

Well they are planning, thats for sure, and they make some of the powerfullest GPU for mobile known to man :)

They have a new line up of CPU' ready soon as well as quad systems, but i wouldnt mind the mobile AMD to see how much it can be overclocked.

Yep, it has the OC button, we can push it for a jolt in speed, and we can push it higher in bios i believe, we also have software to push the cores too :)

Perhaps you could install a turion ultra X2, they are @ 2.3ghz(or even 2.4) newer tech, I think 45nm and more cashe.

These should work since I guess you have the PUMA platform. :)
    I hope this helps.
