hi guys, i own msi gx660r and im loving this machine as it serves me well.

recently due to my carelessness, i broke my lcd screen when i put in my luggage when travelling. now im in the market for new lcd screen. preferably matte screen if there are any. resolution have to be still kept in full hd 1080p resolution like the original.

any recommendation or maybe parts part number so i could go look at the evil bay for screen shopping will be greatly appreciated :D

    thank you.

I got myself a new LG screen used in the newer GT683 models. I don't have the part number cuz I forgot it haha and the screen will be arriving till next week... but! you can ask Ken from GentechPC for more info on the replacement LCD.

I don't think its matter but its supposed to be of much higher quality in colors, contrast and angles.

Where did you get that extra screen from. I got the GX780 and it came with the glossy :(

That's funny, because mine came with the matte and I swapped it for glossy, haha. If you're interested, I can give ya a good deal on it. It does have one stuck pixel that's blue on dark backgrounds. Other than that, it's not very noticeable because it shows light colors fine.

Sure I will let you know how the screen fares and maybe even take some pics for comparison.

My GX660r has been a blessing so far. I have 0 real complaints and it hasn't let me down. As for GPUs, well the HD6970/Hd6990 are indeed step ups but they are very expensive so I am waiting with my HD5870m till the 7000 series and see whats up. Newer models no longer have express card slot which is weird, I guess not many people use it.

I am currently upgrading mine, the plan is to get new LCD, new CPU (920xm), dual SSDs and in the end a new GPU. Since this is a 15.6 laptop getting something like the HD6990 might be too hot, so I don't know if I should upgrade to an MXM Upgrade Hd6970m or wait for HD7000 series which have a chance o bringing same performance with less TDP.

why dont you go for auo b156hw01 v.4? its matte and fullhd led with high color gamut with good viewing angle, the downside is you need to calibrate it before you use it, or the color tone will be to strong for the eye
