    GX640 = High Settings
    GX740 = Ultra Settings

    ...for Bad Company 2, just to give you an idea.

    As per graphics card benchmark.

    With my E7405, I run all modern games (excepting Metro 2033, which I haven't tried) on highest settings (often "Very High" or "Ultra") and the native resolution (1680 x 1050) with absolute smoothness. The only exception to this rule is Crysis and Crysis Warhead, which I choose to run at 1280 x 720 and 2x AA for a framerate I find enjoyable.

    The only point to this laptop where the GX740 triumphs is the CPU: i5 versus i7. In modern applications and games, however, the difference is negligible, and for potentially $200 less. I have found that everything on my computer has been quite snappy, and I don't believe this CPU will begin to hamper any games but the largest RTS titles for another 2-3 years, at least.

    I love this laptop :D and the aesthetic design is exactly my style. Also, it is quite light (in weight) for a 17", if that matters in your decision at all

    If the budget + portability isn't a concern, get the GX740. It barely weights more than the GX660, has the same GPU, better CPU, and a higher resolution screen (although not LED). Plus it doesn't look like peewee herman's nightmare.

    Basically the same as the GX740, except with an i5 CPU instead of an i7. the price is about even with the GX640, which I guess technically makes it a better deal (faster GPU). Just depends if you want a bigger screen + overall size or something slightly smaller.

    Agreed with all of the above. The screen is very bright and crisp, but not technically true 1080p HD. However, you'll find that many times, 1920 x 1080 makes desktop reading too small without adjustments, and having a native resolution of 1680 x 1050 will ultimately give better performance than the (in my opinion) unnecessary 1920 x 1080.

    Unless you're dead-set on things like Blu-Ray movies (of which my standard E7405 didn't come with a Blu-Ray drive anyway), I believe the E7405 is the best answer for you. i5 vs. i7 only makes a practical difference in a rare few instances of hardcore niche use.
