The i7 2670QM is what is now the stock CPU in GT branded MSI notebooks.

This is what I would recommend although the older 2630QM offers good bang for the buck.

The 2670QM runs at the same speed as the 2720QM ES.

ES CPUs are illegal to sell. They are the property of Intel.

With the 2720QM ES, you get 2 more MB of L3 cache than the 2760QM, support for more RAM than the 26XXQM's (according to Intel), higher Turbo than the 2670QM, and the VT-d that the 26XXQM's lack.

I can confirm what 5482741, the 2720 has higher turbo than 2670qm.
But I would still stick with the 2630qm for the money :)

Please note that as posted previously, the ES is illegal to sell. ES stands for Engineering Sample. There is no warranty of any sort on these and there are some penalties to resellers that actually try to pass them off as a legitimate item.

To the OP, I would recommend either the 2670 or the 2760 (why Intel felt the urge to have 2 CPU with numbers that could be easily confused is beyond me) but those two would be right around your sweet spot for a CPU.

From what I have read, overclocking is possible with an unlocked BIOS though not recommended.
