from a conversation with Unleaded and CoffeeShark after speaking with MSI:
The MS-1039 will be delayed til April - at the earliest. Price should be around $100 more than the 1029 price.
Good pricing for this system, but when it comes close on the heels of Turion X2, it will dampen any impact the 1039 would've had. Single core turions will be hard to sell if dual core has a similar price point.
MSI expects to focus on Turion X2 models with dedicated graphics in the second quarter (unsure if that means release or start of manufacture), but no specific details are being released to anyone.

That´s AWESOME!!!!!
Wonderfull news. Exactly what I expected from Msi.
Now I am really in doubt if i buy the 1039 or wait for the dual turions......... Maybe they will come with the mobile 1800 or 1900!!! Who knows....
I think MSi will release some notes till june/july, i just hope they have an update for the 1039, for the dual turions...
Anyway these are really good news!!! -
I had a feeling it would be delayed until April. I had asked Falcon Northwest a coupla weeks ago about a potential move from the 1029 to the 1039 for the basis of their thin and light system, and they told me that they didn't expect to see the 1039 until april
Makes me sad. I might have to move onto something else. -
Oh well, c'est la vie....Can't really say this was unexpected though, and quite frankly it's probably a good thing. I don't really need a computer right NOW and this will give me a chance to firm up my funding and observe some of the awesome notebooks which are slated to be introduced in the next couple of months.
-
I would imagine that moves the updated 1022 back till the end of the year if the 1039 is not rolling out. Asus here I come!
-
Gah! Well, I guess since I don't need a laptop right now, I may as well wait and see what else comes along. I just was really excited for the 1039 as it had almost everything I was looking for.

wouldn't the s420 shown a cebit be the 1022 (s425) replacement? Intel Duo Core, ATi chip, same chassis it appears.
-
unfortunately, cebit doesn't have any type of release date expectation attached to it - many models shown may still be in mock-up form or very early beta-type engineering.
-
true, true. I just figured since the s262 is a reality and available soon in some markets that the s420 can't be far behind. It doesn't matter to me. I have till July or so for a new notebook. I just want the option here in the states before then.
Any idea what ATI chip they were talking about? (RC410ME) I googled it with little results. -
nm figured it out. Its integrated.

I baught my sony FE with nvidia 7400 and dual core Maybe in april ill sell it for one of these
or wait till a msi dual core turion is released. 100$ more is a fantastic price for the upgrade.
-
makes me glad i just went ahead and bought the 1029... i hate waiting...
-
I was going to purchase a MS-1036 next week. Do you think I should wait and get a MS-1039?
-
Thanks!
I've been lurking here for a long time trying to guess from your posts when the 1039 would come out. Not til April I see. I'm really disappointed because I have about two weeks til I ship out to the Middle East and I was really hoping to snag one of these before I left. So I was wondering if anyone knows of any other comparable systems - I was really happy to see a turion paired up with a great video card (I want to be able to play EQ2 on it - - easily, and for more than 15 minutes) but there aren't many like this around it seems.Would I be better off just getting the 1036? Should I wait for 1039? If I wait for that, should I just keep waiting for dual core? Maybe I should just get a crappy one that way I won't get mad if it fills up with sand. hehe
-
Well I was thinking of waiting for this system but hell if they will soon have dual core editions ready I may wait yet a little longer and go with that
waiting on a MS-1039 update?
