I am trying the do the same thing with my vr700, I had to format the hard drive, I did it by taking out of the machine and using a usb sata convertor, plugged it into a XP machine and format.

I now have XP but very, very few drivers. I have asked MSI for drivers....

MSI should have their drivers for download on their website, right?

wishful thinking, they have vista drivers only on the website and their support is blowing me off saying it is a vista laptop. MSI do a VR701W that has XP pre loaded but I can't find the drivers for that anywhere.

Hi I just ran the recovery dvd for my ex700 notebook it didn't take until I plugged in a usb thunb drive.
Then it took forever to reload , that might help someone but, after that it says no destination . then it dumps . wish i could get xp on too.
