hi guys. which one will you select if portablity and screen size doesnt matter.

    gx640 with i5-450m,5850,500 gb

    or

    e7405 with i5430m, 5870, 320 gb

and which one has better cpu and gpu temperatures.

I was in the same debate and I went with the E7405. My reasoning was bigger screen, 5870 and the 4 speakers 1 sub.

Also the E7405 has two vents that provides better air flow, while the GX640 only has one.

Agreed with both of the above. Bigger screen, better graphics, and about the same portability (weight-wise at least). GPU temperatures will probably be roughly the same, that's dependent on how the user combats them. CPU's are close enough in performance to make the difference negligible.

Theres a fair bit difference in the portability and weight

    E7405 - 7.04 lbs / 395.22 x 278.28 x 34.79
    gx640 - 5.8lbs / 374.39 x 249.68 x 17.7

gx640 can be clocked to 5870 speeds no worries...

    Cheers

Which screen is better 15" with 1680x1050 will be more crisp when compared to the 17" with the same resolution right? And what about battery back up? Will 17" consume more power since it has 5870 and also a bigger screen?

over less probs with the 17" models(heat and what ever the 640 ppl are clammering about) comes down to can you use a bigger screen more than a 15.4 screen and a bit more weight, i wanted the 640 because of the size for school but then said fack that and went to the power!
